Dr. Prasad Andhare’s research is centered on microbial biotechnology with a focus on cyanobacterial biorefineries, sustainable wastewater treatment, and the valorization of microbial metabolites. His work explores the extraction and characterization of phycobiliproteins and exopolysaccharides (EPS) from cyanobacteria and rhizobacteria for applications in bioremediation, nanobiotechnology, and bioenergy. He is particularly interested in bioproducts from cyanobacterial biomass, green synthesis of nanoparticles, microbial fuel cell (MFC) technologies, and the use of co-culture systems for integrated bioproduct generation and effluent treatment. His current projects under the Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM) investigate hybrid biological systems for CETP wastewater treatment and the development of circular bioeconomy models using cyanobacterial biomass for biofuels and value-added products. Dr. Andhare's interdisciplinary approach bridges environmental microbiology, genomics, and applied biotechnology to address challenges in sustainable development and industrial biotechnology.
