Mrs. Khushbu Verma is a dedicated academic professional currently serving as an Assistant Professor in Biotechnology at Bhagwan Mahavir University, Surat, a position she has held since August 2021. With a strong academic foundation and a passion for life sciences, she is also CSIR-UGC NET qualified (Life Sciences) with an All India Rank of 54, highlighting her academic excellence and deep subject knowledge.

Ms. Khushbu holds both her M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Biotechnology from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), having graduated with distinction (over 81% in both programs)

Her research interests lie in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Signaling, and Oncology. She has guided M.Sc. students in dissertation research and has participated in several national-level academic events, including poster presentations and seminars. Notably, she presented her work on the Synthesis of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles from Bioluminescent Bacteria at a national conference hosted by Bhagwan Mahavir University in 2023.

Mrs. Khushbu Verma is skilled in both wet lab and dry lab techniques, with hands-on experience in PCR, RT-PCR, electrophoresis, spectrophotometry, and basic microbiological methods. She has a working knowledge of bioinformatics and actively engages in faculty development programs and molecular biology workshops.

Mrs. Khushbu Verma's research interests lie at the intersection of molecular and cellular biology, with a strong emphasis on understanding the fundamental mechanisms that govern life at the microscopic level. She is particularly focused on:

  • Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): Exploring bacterial defense mechanisms, particularly the role of efflux pumps in actively expelling antibiotics from microbial cells. This process significantly contributes to multidrug resistance, posing major challenges in clinical treatment and public health.

  • Bioethanol Production: Her postgraduate dissertation focused on optimizing microbial fermentation for sustainable bioethanol production. The study aimed to enhance yield through the utilization of cost-effective substrates and efficient microbial strains, contributing to the advancement of renewable biofuels.

    Currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Life Sciences, she is actively involved in academic instruction, laboratory training, and student mentoring.
